About the Stage Set

The Maxfield Parrish Stage Set is one of New Hampshire’s hidden treasures — a rare, three-dimensional stage design created by one of America’s most celebrated artists. Housed inside the Plainfield Village Town Hall, this unique artwork remains a source of community pride. The community welcomes opportunities to share it with schools, visitors, and art enthusiasts.

Educational Field Trips

Bring art and history to life! Educational field trips offer students and groups a unique opportunity to explore the Stage Set up close, discover its artistic and technical details, and experience its magical lighting effects. Visits are available seasonally or by appointment.

Stage Set Visitation with a Docent (With Historic Interpretation)

Get a behind-the-scenes look at the Stage Set’s remarkable design and lighting effects during a guided walk-through. These special experiences are available by appointment for a suggested donation.
