Maxfield Parrish would often build models of what he was painting and experiment with various lighting. The detail on this model is amazing. This is the Freeman Farm located below his property, The Oaks, in Plainfield, NH. There are several Parrish paintings with the Freeman Farm. The farm house still exists today and remains in the family. You can see it on Route 12A in Plainfield. Parrish bought the land to build his home from the Freeman - Daniels family.

Save the date for the Annual Maxfield Parrish Vintage Prints and Collectibles Show and Sale! October 10-11 from 10-5 p.m. each day at the Plainfield Village Town Hall, 1079 Route 12A, Plainfield, NH. We have some other Cornish Art Colony events planned with Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park. The Blow Me Down Farm tour is Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday, a Ranger will be at the Town Hall for a talk on the Cornish Art Colony.
The Plainfield Community Church is planning their rummage sale and Apple Fest, Saturday, the 10th, also. It will be a great day to be in Plainfield Village.
Coming for the weekend - make your reservations soon! The foliage should be spectacular.

Plan ahead for Indigenous People's Day Weekend in October when the Maxfield Parrish Stage Set Committee will have some joint events with Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park for a Cornish Art Colony weekend.

🎥 Exciting Few Days at the Plainfield Village Town Hall!
A 10-person film crew from London’s Dorothy St Pictures arrived in Plainfield to film our historic Town Hall and the Maxfield Parrish Stage Set for an upcoming documentary. After scouting the Hall on Thursday, the crew returned and spent nearly three hours filming the Stage Set and Town Hall before heading off to capture The Oaks, views of Mt. Ascutney, and other places connected to Maxfield Parrish here in Plainfield.
Campbell Mobley of the Flagler Museum was filmed on our stage with Plainfield’s 1916 Maxfield Parrish Stage Set as the backdrop. What a sight!
The documentary will be shown at the new Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angel!—in February. Plainfield’s remarkable Stage Set is a wonderful part of this story.
The film crew and Ms. Mobley were truly in awe of the Stage Set. They repeatedly commented on what an extraordinary treasure Plainfield has and how remarkable it is that the Town and generations of volunteers have preserved it in its original location since 1916.
The crew even used a drone to film several exterior scenes, including Ms. Mobley walking up to the Town Hall. The beautiful flowers left from our Fourth of July celebration framed the building perfectly.
As we watched the filming, we couldn't help but wish that we already had the funds to complete the landscaping, make the much-needed repairs to the building, and give our historic Town Hall a fresh coat of paint. The world is beginning to discover this extraordinary Plainfield treasure—and we want the building that has protected the Stage Set for 110 years to shine, too.
We are making steady progress toward raising the $125,000 local match needed for immediate repairs to the Town Hall—and we are now about halfway there. There is still much work ahead, but days like this remind us just how important this preservation effort is.

This is the painting that was given to the tellers of the bank in Windsor VT for helping Parrish with his checkbook. The tellers almost lost it once when it was offered for sale. Recently the bank closed and the town is helping to save it a second time and keep it where it belongs in Windsor ! We are excited to hear his original song on our stage, MAXFIELD PARRISH BLUE, inspried by his mother, Betty, when she told stories of working for Maxfield Parrish.
