The Maxfield Parrish Stage Set and Plainfield Town Hall Committees were pleased to help the producers of New Hampshire PBS with the filming of "Our Hometown" stories. Several stories about the stage, Maxfield Parrish, and William Howard Hart came up. We will share in the coming days some of the items people brought to share. It's a wrap!
After six days of filming stories in Plainfield and Meriden, NHPBS "Our Hometown" producers have left after interviewing 48(!!!) people. They will be back in June to take more pictures and film some additional footage. The show will air most likely in August and we will plan a preview party and invite the producers and Rebecca to join us. A big THANK YOU to all who participated.
With so many people willing to share stories, and several we couldn't get scheduled, we may be motivated to have regular, informal storytelling hours and record a few more for the Plainfield Plainfield NH Historical Society.

We love to introduce children to the Town Hall and Maxfield Parrish Stage Set! This group was captivated by the set. Their storytelling was excellent. It was wonderful to see such great community support.
Our volunteers welcome school field trips and tour groups by appointment and coordinate with Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park and Plainfield NH Historical Society. We were pleased to work with the Plainfield Elementary School and sponsor Simon Brooks and the storytelling activities this spring. Simon also worked with Plainfield adults on storytelling.
This picture shows the third and fourth graders and in the background some of the adults who participated in telling stories that the kids recreated in their own words and actions. The stories were then performed in front of the Maxfield Parrish Stage Set in the Plainfield Town Hall. A big congratulations and thank you to all who participated!

Members of the Plainfield Town Hall Committee traveled to Concord to receive a $125,000 LCHIP matching grant from LCHIP, Land and Community Heritage Investment Program presented to us by the Governor, on December 9. For more information on the grant, see the press release on www.plainfieldnh.org/newsview.aspx?nid=6816 This award will put us well on our way to preserve and protect the Plainfield Village Town Hall and the Maxfield Parrish Stage Set. This is a matching grant which means we can not begin the work and upgrades until we have raised all the matching funds. Some of the items on our list include painting the entire building, upgrading electrical, fire alarm systems, dehumidification on the stage and in the basement, repairing a concrete basement, and replacing rotten beams, clapboard, soffits, and skirting. These items were outlined in the NH Preservation Alliance Assessment Report. ... See MoreSee Less
