Longer-term improvements will focus on strengthening the building’s ability to protect the Maxfield Parrish Stage Set while enhancing the Plainfield VIllage Town Hall as a vibrant and welcoming community space. Planned upgrades include improved insulation and climate management systems—such as energy-efficient heat pumps—to help stabilize temperature and humidity, along with enhanced early detection fire systems, outside lighting, and a modern security system.
Additional improvements will support the Town Hall’s role as a gathering place and performance venue, including a complete sound system, computerized lighting controls, energy-efficient LED stage lighting, and an electric projection screen. Interior painting, refinishing of the historic floors, and thoughtful landscaping improvements around the building will further enhance the space.
These improvements will be undertaken in phases as funding becomes available through grants, community support, a capital campaign, and other fundraising efforts. Because many preservation grants require matching funds, local contributions will help leverage significant outside funding to complete these important investments in the long-term preservation and use of the Town Hall and the Maxfield Parrish Stage Set.
With continued community support and thoughtful stewardship, these improvements will ensure that this rare Maxfield Parrish Stage Set and the historic Town Hall that houses it remain a lasting source of pride, culture, and gathering for future generations.
Since 1916, generations of Plainfield residents and supporters have worked to protect this extraordinary artwork. With your help, we can continue that tradition and secure the Maxfield Parrish Stage Set for the next century.
